বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর মেডিকেল কোরে বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসক হিসেবে মেজর পদবীতে যোগ দিতে চট্টগ্রাম আসার পথে সীতাকুণ্ডের বাঁশবাড়িয়া এলাকায় সঞ্জিতাদের বহনকারী বাসের সঙ্গে কাভার্ড ভ্যানের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ হয়। এতে ঘটনাস্থলেই প্রাণ হারান সঞ্জিতা।
বাবা সুনীল শান্তি বিশ্বাস এবং মা সুপ্তি চৌধুরী’র মেয়ে সঞ্জিতার ২০১২ সালে বিয়ে হয় ঢাকা শিশু হাসপাতালের সহকর্মী চিকিৎসক শান্তনু করের সঙ্গে।
সঞ্জিতার চাচা বলেন,‘পরিবারের ছেলে মেয়েদের মধ্যে সঞ্জিতা ছিল সবচেয়ে মেধাবী। ছোট বেলায় তাদের বাবা মারা যায়। তাদের মা সন্তানদের কষ্ট করে বড় করেছেন। ডাক্তারি পড়িয়েছেন। মেয়ে এভাবে চলে যাবে এটা কোনভাবেই মেনে নিতে পারছেন না।’

She was known to me. She was my trainee in DMCH. She was very talent doctor. She got the FCPS degree with in very short period. I am shocked.
May Allah rest her soul in heaven! It is pathetic and irrevocably unbelievable! There is no doubt she was a genius. I am deeply saddened that we lost such a talented doctor. It is the time for the physician society to reach out to a consensus to prevent these unnatural deaths : specially road traffic accidents by establishing road security for the safe journey of all the doctors who have to travel all over the country as service providers, My consolation for the deceased family, may God help them to overcome this unfortunate situation very soon.
